Pitch a Heritage Tourism Strategy for Benin City's Bronze Route

Develop a tourism strategy that turns Benin City's world-famous bronze casting tradition into a structured visitor experience. With the Benin Bronzes still in international headlines, there is a narrow window to position the city as a serious cultural destination.

The brief

Benin City is the origin of some of the most valuable and debated artworks in the world. The bronze casting tradition is alive, the Royal Palace has real draw, and interest from the diaspora and international visitors is rising. Yet the city has no coherent tourism product to meet that interest. Visitors arrive without a clear trail to follow, and local craftspeople rarely benefit from the attention their work generates. The problem is not awareness. It is the absence of a structured offer. No mapped route, no guide infrastructure, no quality standard for the workshops open to visitors, and no narrative that connects the historical pieces to the living craftspeople working today. Build a heritage tourism strategy pitched at the Edo State Ministry of Arts and Culture or a potential NGO partner. The strategy should cover: a proposed "Bronze Route" with at least five stops (workshop, museum, palace, market, historical site), a recommended visitor profile, a revenue model that includes local artisans, and at least one partnership or funding angle. Deliver it as a pitch deck of 10 to 14 slides. Good work will be grounded in what actually exists in Benin City today, not an imagined ideal. Name real workshops, reference the National Museum, acknowledge the repatriation conversation and explain whether your strategy engages with it or sidesteps it and why.
