A Talented Tribe with Purpose is an organisation that builds programmes for young people aged 13 to 35. It runs the Teen Innovators Challenge (a teen-focused open competition for ages 13 to 22), the Teen Innovators Accelerator (a cohort programme for young builders aged 13 to 22), and Launchpad (an online practice ground for young builders).

No. ATTP does not replace school. It runs alongside formal education, typically on weekends or during school holidays, and focuses on the things school rarely teaches: problem-solving, building real things, and developing a sense of direction.

ATTP is a programme of The Launchpad Youth Foundation Nigeria, which is in the process of registering as an Incorporated Trustee under Nigerian law. CAC registration is pending.

ATTP started in 2020 with a podcast recorded in a bedroom in Bariga on Christmas Day. TIC launched in 2024 and has run two editions (2024 and 2025). TIA launched in 2026. Launchpad launched in 2026.

ATTP was founded by Akintunde Idowu, a Lagos-based lawyer and social entrepreneur. The programmes are run by the founder, three department leads, and a team of volunteers.

TIA is a structured cohort programme open to any young person aged 13 to 22. Participants go through weekly sessions with facilitators, develop a real project, and present at a graduation day in front of mentors, partners, and the ATTP community.

No prior experience is required. You need curiosity and the commitment to show up. Ideas are developed during the programme. You do not need to arrive with a finished concept.

A certificate of completion, a graduation ceremony, and a body of work you built across the cohort. Alumni also receive ongoing access to the ATTP community and opportunities.

TIC is ATTP's annual open innovation competition for young Nigerians aged 13 to 22. Entry is prototype-first: participants submit a video walkthrough of a working prototype or early product that addresses a real problem. The top 20 are shortlisted into a development programme, they receive orientation, are matched with mentors, and submit a final developed version of their work by 31 October. Judges score those final submissions against a published rubric, and the top 10 advance to Build Day in November, where they build live in front of the judges and a public audience. Winners are announced on the day.

No. Entering TIC is completely free.

A working prototype or early product that addresses a real problem, a device, an app, a social initiative, a service, or a creative solution. It does not need to be technology-based, and it does not need to be polished; you enter with a short video walkthrough showing it working. Past finalists have built civic-tech tools for tracking blocked drains, sensor-based water dispensers, school inclusion programmes, and menstrual health chatbots. What matters is that the problem is real, the thing exists, and the work is yours.

Two minutes maximum. Judges score only the first two minutes of longer videos, so every entrant gets the same window. Show the prototype working; skip introductions and slides.

Every entrant hears the outcome when the shortlist is announced on 29 August, three weeks after entries close on 8 August. Shortlisted entrants then attend orientation on 5 September.

Build Day is a live public event. The top 10 finalists build live in front of the judging panel and an audience of mentors, partners, ATTP community members, and guests, showing their work as it really is rather than pitching slides. Prizes are awarded on the day. The event is ticketed for capacity but open to the public, families are welcome to attend.

Grand Prize ₦200,000 · 2nd Place ₦100,000 · 3rd Place ₦50,000. All finalists also receive access to TIA, the structured accelerator cohort.

No. Launchpad is open to any young person who creates an account. TIA and TIC participants use it as part of their programmes, but it is not restricted to them.

A brief is a structured challenge, a real problem with a defined output. Completing a brief means submitting work that can be reviewed, not just reading about a topic.
