Privacy Policy

A Talented Tribe with Purpose (ATTP) is a programme of The Launchpad Youth Foundation Nigeria, a youth-focused non-profit based in Lagos, Nigeria. The Foundation is the data controller responsible for the personal data described in this policy, and ATTP is the name under which it delivers its programmes. Those programmes include the Teen Innovators Challenge (TIC), the Teen Innovators Accelerator (TIA), the ATTP Fellowship, the Launchpad brief platform, and the ATTP Ground Truth and Translation Engine data programmes, serving young people aged 13 to 35. We collect personal data in the following categories:

(a) Identity data: full name, date of birth, gender, and a profile photograph where provided. (b) Contact data: email address, phone number, and home city or state. (c) Application and programme data: written responses, project submissions, mentor feedback, attendance records, and programme progress. (d) Payment data: transaction references and payment status processed via Paystack. We do not store full card numbers; those are handled by Paystack under its own privacy regime. (e) Media: photographs and video recordings taken during ATTP events, workshops, or cohort sessions. (f) Usage data: IP address, browser type, and pages visited when you use our website. (g) Contribution data: translations, data entries, labels, and other content you submit to ATTP data programmes such as ATTP Ground Truth and the Translation Engine, together with the review status and the public credit attached to each approved entry. (h) Payout data: where you are paid for approved contributions, the bank account name, account number, and bank name you provide. This is collected only so that we can pay you, and it is never published or included in any dataset.

We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as health information or government ID numbers) unless specifically required for a programme and disclosed to you in advance.

We process personal data under the following lawful bases as recognised by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and, where applicable, the UK/EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

(a) Contract performance: to administer your application, enrol you in a programme, communicate programme schedules, and process fees. (b) Legitimate interests: to improve our programmes, understand participant outcomes, and operate our organisation effectively, where these interests are not overridden by your rights. (c) Consent: to send you marketing communications, publish your photograph or video on our channels, or process data about a participant under 18 where a parent or guardian has provided consent on their behalf. (d) Legal obligation: to maintain financial records and comply with applicable Nigerian law.

Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time by writing to info@attpglobal.com.

Some ATTP programmes, including ATTP Ground Truth and the Translation Engine, invite you to contribute content such as translations, labelled data, and other entries that are compiled into datasets. This section explains what happens to that content.

Where a contribution is approved, it is published in the relevant dataset and may be licensed to third parties, including on commercial terms, under our Data Licence. Your public credit (your name) is attached permanently to each approved entry, and that attribution cannot be removed by ATTP or by any customer. Beyond that public credit, no personal data about you is included in published datasets. Programmes that carry anonymisation rules publish only at the aggregation level stated on the programme page, and licensees are prohibited from attempting to re-identify anonymised contributors or subjects.

Contributing is always optional and always free to you. You keep the right to reuse your own contributions anywhere. Entries already shipped in a past dataset release cannot be recalled, which is the honest nature of published data, but you may stop contributing at any time and ask for your name to be replaced by an anonymous credit in future releases. ATTP programmes are open to participants from the age of 13. Where a participant is under 18, we require verifiable consent from a parent or legal guardian before processing that participant's personal data beyond what is strictly necessary to respond to an enquiry. Consent forms are issued at point of application and must be returned before enrolment is confirmed. Parents and guardians may contact us at any time to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's data.

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected:

(a) Application records (including unsuccessful applications): two years from the date of the application decision. (b) Active participant records: for the duration of the programme plus two years. (c) Payment and financial records: seven years from the date of the transaction, to comply with Nigerian financial regulations. (d) Payout details (contributor bank details): kept while you are an active contributor and for two years after your last payment, then securely deleted, unless a longer period is required by financial law. (e) Safeguarding records: until the child turns 25, or for 10 years from the date of the incident where it involves an adult, whichever is longer. (f) Website usage data: 12 months.

Approved contributions published in a dataset are, by their nature, a permanent public record and are not subject to these deletion periods, though your name may be replaced with an anonymous credit in future releases on request. After the periods above, other data is securely deleted or anonymised.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in the following circumstances:

(a) Service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g. Paystack for payments, Google for cloud storage, email platforms for communications). All processors are required to handle your data in accordance with applicable law. (b) Programme partners or co-facilitators who need access to participant data to deliver a specific session or module, and who are bound by confidentiality obligations. (c) Regulatory or law enforcement authorities where we are legally required to disclose information. (d) In anonymised, aggregated form for impact reporting to funders. (e) Licensees of ATTP datasets, where you have chosen to contribute to a data programme. A published dataset, and any commercial licence of it, carries only your public credit (your name) and the content you approved for inclusion. It does not contain your contact details, payout details, or any other personal data, and licensees are bound by terms that prohibit re-identification of anonymised contributors or subjects. This is distinct from selling your personal data, which we do not do.

Where data is transferred outside Nigeria, we ensure an adequate level of protection is in place consistent with section 43 of the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

You have the right to:

(a) Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you. (b) Correct any inaccurate or incomplete data. (c) Request deletion of your data where we no longer have a lawful basis to retain it. (d) Object to processing based on legitimate interests. (e) Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal. (f) Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully.

Our website uses cookies to make it function correctly and to understand how visitors use it. We use strictly necessary cookies (which cannot be disabled), and, with your consent, analytics cookies to measure traffic and engagement. We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on our website with an updated effective date and, where the changes are material, notify active participants by email. Continued participation in ATTP programmes after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
