Design a Land Title Verification Tool for First-Time Buyers in Abuja

Build a prototype tool that helps first-time property buyers in Abuja verify land titles and spot fraud before they hand over money. Land fraud costs Nigerians billions of naira every year, and most victims had no simple way to check.

The brief

In Abuja's residential land market, buying a plot is one of the biggest financial decisions a family will ever make. Yet the process of verifying a Certificate of Occupancy, checking for double allocation, or confirming that a seller actually has legal standing is opaque, expensive, and often requires a lawyer most buyers cannot afford. Fraudsters exploit this gap constantly. The Federal Capital Territory Abuja Land Administration (AGIS) holds records, but access is inconsistent and the user experience is hostile to ordinary people. Buyers are told to 'do their due diligence' with no practical guidance on what that means or where to start. By the time a problem surfaces, money has already changed hands. Your task is to design a mobile-first prototype for a land title verification tool targeting first-time buyers in Abuja. The tool should walk a user through the key checks: document type identification, AGIS record cross-referencing, red flag indicators, and a summary report they can share with a lawyer or family member. You are not building a live database connection. You are designing the flows, screens, and logic. Submit a Figma prototype or equivalent (at least 10 screens), a one-page explanation of your verification logic, and a short write-up on the two or three biggest failure points in the current process and how your design addresses them. Good work will show that you have spoken to or researched real buyers, not just mapped a theoretical flow.
