Build the Platform That Connects Nollywood Films to Original African Music Scores
Nollywood is the world's second largest film industry. Almost all of it uses unlicensed or generic music. Build the marketplace that fixes that.
Closes 6 Sept 2026
The brief
Nollywood produces over 2,500 films a year. The music in most of them is unlicensed, generic, or borrowed without payment. African composers who could score these films have no easy way to reach filmmakers. Filmmakers have no easy way to find and license original music.
Your challenge is to build or design a platform that connects Nollywood and African filmmakers with composers and musicians who can create or license original scores. The platform must handle both sync licensing and original commission, must be affordable for indie filmmakers, and must pay composers fairly.
Submit a working product, prototype, or detailed specification covering: how filmmakers search and commission, how composers list and get paid, licensing terms, pricing structure, and a go-to-market plan for the first 50 composers.
Judging criteria: 35% product quality, 30% business model fairness to composers, 25% filmmaker usability, 10% go-to-market.
