Design a Financially Sustainable Grassroots Sports Academy for Nigerian Teenagers
Elite Nigerian athletes almost all came from informal grassroots structures. Design the formal model that scales that pipeline sustainably.
Closes 6 Sept 2026
The brief
Nigeria produces world-class athletes, but the pathway is fragile — dependent on a scout spotting talent by chance, or a family sacrificing significantly to support training. There is almost no structured, affordable, financially sustainable grassroots academy model.
Your challenge is to design a sports academy model for teenagers aged 13 to 18 in a single Nigerian city. It must be affordable for families earning ₦80,000 to ₦200,000 a month, sustainable without government funding, and produce measurable athletic development within 12 months.
Submit: academy structure, sports offered, coaching model, fee structure, how sustainability is achieved, and how you measure and demonstrate athlete progress.
Judging criteria: 35% financial sustainability, 30% athlete development model, 25% affordability, 10% originality.
