Create a Digital Sales Playbook for Nigerian Fashion Designers Going Direct-to-Consumer

Lagos has a thriving independent fashion scene, but most designers still depend on physical pop-ups and word of mouth because converting social media followers to paying customers online is genuinely hard. Build a practical, tested playbook for going direct-to-consumer on a small budget.

The brief

Nigerian fashion designers, particularly those in the mid-market between fast fashion and luxury, have real audiences on Instagram and TikTok. Follower counts in the tens of thousands are common. Conversions are not. The gap between someone liking a post and actually completing a purchase involves trust, payment friction, logistics uncertainty and the absence of a clear buying journey. Most advice available to these designers is written for Western markets with Shopify, Stripe and next-day delivery as defaults. In Nigeria, the relevant tools are different: Paystack, Flutterwave, WhatsApp Business, DM-to-order workflows, Sendbox or Kwik for delivery. The constraints are also different: many designers cannot afford to hold much inventory, card payment failure rates are higher, and customers often expect to negotiate or ask questions before buying. Your task is to build a practical digital sales playbook aimed at Nigerian fashion designers with a following of one thousand to twenty thousand on Instagram or TikTok, a monthly revenue target under five million naira, and no dedicated e-commerce team. The playbook should cover channel strategy, the order and payment flow, how to handle customer communication, and how to manage fulfilment with third-party logistics providers. The deliverable is a designed, readable document of fifteen to twenty pages, or an equivalent interactive Notion or web format. It should be something a designer could actually pick up and act on. Test at least one recommendation with a real designer or seller before you submit, and report what you learned from that test.
