Build the Monetisation Infrastructure for Independent Nigerian Content Creators

Nigeria has millions of content creators on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Most earn nothing. The tools to monetise an audience in naira — without a foreign bank account — do not exist. Design them.

Closes 10 Sept 2026

The brief

The Nigerian creator economy is vibrant and almost entirely unmonetised below the top 1% of creators. YouTube monetisation requires a US or EU bank account for most payment methods. Brand deals require a formal business structure that most creators do not have. Merchandise is difficult to produce and ship locally. Fan-funded platforms like Patreon are inaccessible without a foreign payment card. The result is that creators who build genuine audiences of 100,000 people earn almost nothing from their work. Your challenge is to design a creator monetisation platform for Nigerian content creators that enables fan payments, brand deal matching, and merchandise production and delivery — all in naira, with no foreign bank account required. It must be competitive with international platforms for user experience, cover all major content platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Podcasts), and charge fees below 15% of creator revenue. Submit a platform design document (max 12 pages) including: the fan payment product, brand deal marketplace design, merchandise fulfilment model, payment infrastructure in naira, creator and fan UX, fee structure, and a plan to reach 10,000 active creators within 12 months. Judging criteria: 35% payment infrastructure design in naira, 30% creator monetisation product design, 20% brand deal marketplace, 15% creator acquisition plan.
