Volunteer role

Executive Director

Full-time equivalentReports to: Board of Trustees

The Executive Director is the operational and strategic lead of ATTP. This role carries responsibility for everything the organisation does: setting direction, building the team, managing resources, maintaining relationships with the Board of Trustees, and ensuring ATTP delivers on its mission to develop talented young people across Africa. The ED is the face of the organisation to funders, partners, government bodies, and the public. Internally, the ED sets the tone for how ATTP operates — the standards it holds, the decisions it makes, and the culture it builds.

What you deliver

The organisation runs, the programmes ship and the strategy holds.

How success is measured

What you will do

  • Set and drive ATTP's annual strategy in consultation with the Board of Trustees
  • Lead all three core programme areas: TIC, TIA, and Launchpad
  • Build, manage, and develop the volunteer leadership team (Communications Lead, Programmes Lead, Partnerships Lead, and direct-report volunteers)
  • Oversee all financial activity: budgeting, expenditure approval, grant management, and donor reporting
  • Represent ATTP in all external relationships: funders, institutional partners, government bodies, media, and peer organisations
  • Report to the Board of Trustees at least quarterly with accurate programme and financial data
  • Maintain all legal and compliance obligations: CAC filings, safeguarding policy, data protection, governance records
  • Own all major communications decisions: public announcements, crisis response, and brand positioning
  • Make final decisions on programme design, participant selection criteria, and partnership terms
  • Model the values and standards ATTP expects of every volunteer and participant
