Every finalist tackled a real problem in their community. These are not hypothetical exercises, they are proposals, prototypes, and platforms built by young people with something to say.
Team NextTech — Dawn Michaels School
A student-built robotics project using sensors and an Arduino to release water only when needed. Runs on both rechargeable and direct power, suitable for areas with unstable electricity. The team built it, tested it, and presented a full deployment case.
Opemipo Akinwumi
A youth project turning plastic waste from streets, schools, and rivers into colourful wall art and decorations. Each artwork is made from collected plastic and tells a story about community and hope. Trains young people in upcycling and art skills.
Phoebe Adetoye
A school project that trains students to become Access Allies who support classmates with disabilities. Provides simple learning tools and apps, and creates fun clubs that teach kindness and understanding. Built around the idea that inclusion is about people who care.
Promise Chidera Ugboaja
A web app to report and track blocked drains in Lagos. Anyone can send in reports with photos and locations, which appear on a shared community map. Data helps neighbours, schools, and government offices act quickly on flooding problems.
Ajayi Oluwasemilore
A WhatsApp and SMS chatbot that helps girls learn about menstrual health, track their periods, and access affordable pads. Available in English, Yoruba, and Pidgin. Connects users to local pad vendors and reduces shame around menstruation, helping girls stay in school.

RouteIQ is an intelligent routing platform designed to transform how Lagosians navigate the city's chaotic transport network. Victor proposed a data-driven approach to optimise BRT routes and reduce commute times for millions of daily passengers.
Ismail Royhannah
Plastic Trade is a platform connecting waste collectors to recycling buyers, creating an economic incentive to clean up Lagos. Ismail proposed a system where plastic waste becomes tradeable currency in communities that have never had formal waste infrastructure.
Sanni Shazily
ZLearn is an education platform designed to make quality learning accessible across Lagos. Sanni proposed adaptive learning tools that work in low-connectivity environments and align with the realities of public secondary school students.
Akande Motunrayo
A forward-thinking waste management proposal designed to create cleaner, healthier communities across Lagos. Akande mapped the gaps in informal waste collection and proposed a community-based model with economic incentives for participation.
John Ayomide
LAS-VEC is a web application designed to enhance voter participation and election transparency in Lagos. John proposed a system where citizens can track results in real time and report irregularities through a verified community map.
