Build the Legal Support System That Survivors of Gender-Based Violence in Nigeria Need

An estimated 30% of Nigerian women have experienced some form of gender-based violence. The Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act exists nationally and in 38 states — but access to legal support, safe documentation, and court representation remains extremely limited for most survivors, particularly in states with few funded support organisations. The challenge is not only legal but also safety: a survivor pursuing legal action faces significant retaliation risk. Your challenge is to design a legal support platform for survivors of gender-based violence in Nigeria that enables safe documentation of incidents, provides guided access to legal remedies, connects survivors with lawyers and support organisations, and includes a safety protocol for survivors at risk of retaliation. The platform must be accessible on a basic smartphone and protect anonymity where the survivor chooses it. Submit a platform design document (max 12 pages) including: the incident documentation tool, safety and anonymity architecture, legal referral network design, survivor interface design with trauma-informed principles, how the platform handles mandatory reporting obligations, and a plan to operate in five states within 12 months.
