Connect Nollywood to Its 20 Million Diaspora Viewers

Millions of Nigerians abroad want to watch current Nollywood content legally, but most platforms do not serve them. Design the distribution model that fixes this.

Closes 10 Sept 2026

The brief

Nollywood produces over 2,500 films a year, making it the second-largest film industry in the world by volume. Yet the global Nigerian diaspora — numbering over 20 million people — has extremely limited access to new releases through legitimate channels. Piracy thrives precisely because legal options are slow, expensive, or simply absent in most diaspora markets. Your challenge is to design a diaspora streaming and distribution model for Nollywood content. It must work in diaspora markets across the UK, US, Canada, and at least one continental European country, support revenue-sharing with Nigerian producers, and be financially viable at subscription prices the diaspora market will actually pay. Submit a business and product design document (max 12 pages) covering: content licensing strategy, pricing and payment model, technology requirements, marketing approach for diaspora audiences, and a projection of break-even within 24 months. Judging criteria: 35% viability of licensing and distribution model, 30% diaspora market insight, 20% technology design, 15% financial projections.
