Channel Nigerian Diaspora Wealth Into Impact Investment at Home

Nigerian diaspora wealth is estimated at over $250 billion. Almost none of it is invested in Nigeria's social sector. Design the investment platform that channels even 1% of it toward verified social impact.

Closes 10 Sept 2026

The brief

The Nigerian diaspora invests billions in residential real estate in Lagos and Abuja but almost nothing in the social enterprises and community development projects that could have transformational impact. The barriers are: lack of trust in fund management, difficulty finding verified investment opportunities, inability to participate in small ticket sizes, and no transparent reporting on how funds are used. Your challenge is to design an impact investment platform for the Nigerian diaspora that enables investors to deploy from $500 upward into verified social impact projects in Nigeria, provides transparent project reporting including third-party verification, and handles all legal, compliance, and payment complexities from both sides. Submit a platform design document (max 12 pages) including: investment product structure, project vetting and verification process, reporting and accountability design, payment infrastructure for diaspora remittances to investment, legal and regulatory compliance approach, and a plan to raise $5 million from 1,000 diaspora investors in the first year. Judging criteria: 35% investment product design and trust architecture, 30% project vetting and reporting, 20% payment and compliance infrastructure, 15% investor acquisition plan.
