Create a Replicable Creative Hub Model for Nigerian Tier-2 Cities
Lagos has vibrant co-working and creative spaces. Ibadan, Kano, Aba, and Jos have almost none. Design a hub model that actually works outside the Lagos bubble.
Closes 10 Sept 2026
The brief
Creative hubs in Lagos have nurtured hundreds of startups and creative businesses. But the model depends on Lagos-specific conditions: high footfall, investor proximity, international events, and per-desk prices that someone in Aba simply cannot pay. Attempts to replicate the Lagos hub model in other Nigerian cities have mostly failed within two years.
Your challenge is to design a creative hub model specifically calibrated for a Nigerian city with a population between 500,000 and 2 million that is not Lagos or Abuja. Choose one real city. The hub must be financially sustainable on revenue from local users alone, without depending on foreign grants or Lagos-based sponsors.
Submit a business design document (max 12 pages) including: city selection rationale, the services and spaces provided, pricing structure, target community (creatives, designers, tech workers, or a specific mix), revenue model, cost structure, and a 24-month financial projection.
Judging criteria: 35% financial model credibility, 30% relevance to chosen city's creative economy, 20% community design, 15% differentiation from failed past attempts.
