When Everyone Is Playing Safe

1 of 4

Playing safe feels like risk management. But for a founder, playing safe has its own risks: building something too small to attract resources, too familiar to stand out in a crowded sector, and too cautious to generate the kind of results that build institutional trust. The founders who have created the most change in their communities are rarely the ones who built the safest programmes. They are the ones who asked the scarier question — what if this could be ten times bigger, or ten times faster, or ten times more direct? — and then built toward that answer. Bold is not reckless. Bold means taking the time to articulate the largest useful version of your idea, then building toward it with discipline, even when the path is not yet clear.
