The Enough Line
1 of 6
There is a financial failure that gets almost no attention because it only happens to people who are already successful. It is the failure of enough. It goes like this: someone works hard, builds real wealth, reaches a level most people dream of — and then ruins it by reaching for more. Not because they needed more. But because the idea of enough had ceased to exist for them. You earn ten and someone nearby earns twenty. You earn twenty and someone earns fifty. At some point the game stops being about security and starts being about keeping score — and in that game there is no winning because the goalpost never stops moving.
