Your Rights as a Consumer
1 of 6
Every time you buy a product or pay for a service in Nigeria, rights attach to that transaction. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) 2018 — administered by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) — gives you the right to receive goods and services that are safe, of acceptable quality, and as described by the seller. You have the right to a refund, repair, or replacement if a product is defective. You have the right to accurate information before a purchase, and the right not to be subjected to misleading advertising or fraudulent terms. Most people do not exercise these rights because they do not know they exist — and sellers rely on that ignorance.
