Your Digital Footprint
1 of 6
Every time you search something online, like a post, fill a form, download an app, or click a link, you leave behind data. That collection of data is your digital footprint. It includes the obvious things, like your name and phone number, and the less obvious ones, like the time of day you are most active, the type of content you engage with longest, the device you use, and your approximate location. None of this disappears when you close the tab. It is stored by the platforms you use, shared with advertisers, and in some cases sold to third parties. Your digital footprint is not a metaphor. It is a real set of records that outlives every post you think you deleted.
