How Employers Actually Think
1 of 6
When an employer reviews an application, they are not asking: did this person get good grades? They are asking: can this person solve my problems, fit into my team, and grow in the role? Grades matter as a filter — particularly for competitive programmes or entry-level roles — but they are rarely the reason someone gets hired or does not. What employers are actually looking for is evidence: evidence that you have done something with your time, that you can communicate clearly, that you understand what the role requires, and that you will show up with the right attitude. Two people with identical grades walk into the same interview. The one who has done more outside the classroom — built something, led something, learned something on their own — almost always wins.
